I noticed that most offline events in China still rely on posting flyers on WeChat or Xiaohongshu, then collecting sign-ups through ugly, hard-to-manage questionnaires or various other methods. After talking with several event organizers, I believed there was real demand for a tool with a unified experience — one place to display event info and collect registrations.
I built the site in one week using Figma, Copilot, and Claude Code. It passed ICP registration, integrated real SMS verification, and launched fully. The product itself worked out well — as my first full-stack project, it had smooth animations and solid, complete features.
But after reaching out to many event organizers, including offline event hosts, I found how hard it was to get traction. Most invitations and recommendations fell silent.
I concluded why: the platform had no standout features — it was just prettier and easier to use. That wasn't enough to justify the opportunity cost of migrating away from their existing, reliable methods.
Since then, my focus has shifted toward building tools rather than ambitious platforms.
